History
In the early 1980s, a group of Catholic laymen, many belonging to the Prelature of Opus Dei came together and informally organised activities to engage an individual physically and intellectually, in an environment that built friendships and social skills. Whether it was a simple game of badminton, a nature walk or a birthday celebration, advice was given – about life, studies, God – and enduring friendships were built. Over time, these participants came back to organise activities and give back, leading to the founding of EAEL in 2004.
Today
EAEL currently offers a variety of activities and programmes that benefit men of all ages – students, young professionals, husbands and dads, and men in their golden years.

EAEL has sought help from Opus Dei for its spiritual programmes. Opus Dei is a personal prelature of the Catholic Church. Founded in 1928 by Saint Josemaria Escriva, Opus Dei teaches that holiness is for everyone and it can be found in the ordinary – in our family lives, what we do at work and how we engage others in society. Any honest work, done with love for others can be holy and offered to God. In doing so, it encourages individuals to imitate Jesus Christ in His humility and love. This is our belief, and it is infused into all our programmes.
